As we move into summer 2011, the following summarizes some of our
key accomplishments and activities since the last newsletter at the
end of 2010:
Board Member Elections
Golf is now a Tree City USA
Working on WGA parking lot expansion request
Update to zoning setback ordinance
Passed ordinances to collect municipal tax on cable providers
Started scanning in our records as electronic files
Completed study on our street signs
Passed Tax Levy for 2010
Approved 2011/2012 Budget
Study of increased noise and vibrations from trains
4th of July Fireworks Display
The above is discussed in more detail in the June 2011 newsletter which you can read using the link below. Since the last
Newsletter, there have been no major events in the Village. We made
it through the Winter with no water main breaks and minimal damage
to our parkways. We do not have any infrastructure projects planned
in the short term. Going into the summer, our key focus areas
are:
Continue records management process and cleaning out old
Village records
Continue work on long term financial plan
WGA parking lot expansion request
Building permit fee and service review
Replacement of faded/rusty street signs
Street Patching
Water Impeller replacement

THE GOLF STATION FOUNDATION
The Golf Station Foundation (the
Foundation) is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation formed in
1972 for the purpose of preserving the railroad station as a landmark.In 2004 the Foundation’s purpose was
expanded to promote the general welfare of the Village.This allowed the Foundation to
participate in the street light project and receive donations from residents to
help with funding.The Foundation
is exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
Code. The Foundation qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction
under Section 170(b)(1)(A) and has been classified as an organization other than
a private foundation under IRC Section 509(a)(2).The Foundation and the Village of Golf have the same board of
trustees.
