      LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

As we move into summer 2011, the following summarizes some of our key accomplishments and activities since the last newsletter at the end of 2010:
  • Board Member Elections
  • Golf is now a Tree City USA
  • Working on WGA parking lot expansion request
  • Update to zoning setback ordinance
  • Passed ordinances to collect municipal tax on cable providers
  • Started scanning in our records as electronic files
  • Completed study on our street signs
  • Passed Tax Levy for 2010
  •  Approved 2011/2012 Budget
  • Study of increased noise and vibrations from trains
  • 4th of July Fireworks Display
The above is discussed in more detail in the June 2011 newsletter which you can read using the link below.  Since the last Newsletter, there have been no major events in the Village. We made it through the Winter with no water main breaks and minimal damage to our parkways. We do not have any infrastructure projects planned in the short term.  Going into the summer, our key focus areas are:

  • Continue records management process and cleaning out old Village records
  • Continue work on long term financial plan
  • WGA parking lot expansion request
  • Building permit fee and service review
  • Replacement of faded/rusty street signs
  • Street Patching
  • Water Impeller replacement
Please do not hesitate to e-mail me with questions, ideas, and concerns. Enjoy your summer and see you at the 4th of July festivities.

Sincerely, Jerry Daus— J.daus@villageofgolf.us

   THE GOLF STATION FOUNDATION

The Golf Station Foundation (the Foundation) is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation formed in 1972 for the purpose of preserving the railroad station as a landmark.  In 2004 the Foundation’s purpose was expanded to promote the general welfare of the Village.  This allowed the Foundation to participate in the street light project and receive donations from residents to help with funding.  The Foundation is exempt from income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  The Foundation qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under Section 170(b)(1)(A) and has been classified as an organization other than a private foundation under IRC Section 509(a)(2).  The Foundation and the Village of Golf have the same board of trustees.
